She stands at the window
Hopes to see his face
Hopes to catch a glimpse of him walking up
The front steps of their place
But inside she knows the awful truth
While peering through the rain
She knows that he is forever gone
And will not come home again
Clutching his pillow to her chest
She heaves a broken sob
Her life has been forever changed
Her soul purged and robbed
Death's cruel fingers dragged him away
Too soon, too fast, too quick
Alone, she drops onto the floor
Why did he get sick?
Reflecting on the love they shared
How they laughed, fought, loved
And cared
Now it's over, her soul has died
'O God, why can't you take me too'?
In despair, she's often cried
'I don't want to be alone..
Alone without my love..'
Desperately she seeks a sign
In the stars above
Something to reassure her that
She not without her love
But clouds obscure her skyward view
She quickly shuts the blind
Shoulders slumped, she turns away
What did she hope to find?
Sitting in the living room
Her hot tea now ice cold
Depression starts to take it's toll
She's not even that old
The TV's on, but she doesn't care
As she stares straight ahead
Life will never be the same
Each day is filled with dread
Nothing to look forward to
But a cold, lonely empty bed.
